God’s Character, Your Walk With God
We begin a study on Walk in the Word this week called, Without Faith…Impossible, based on Hebrews 11:6:
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
So is “having faith” the important thing? Contrary to the opinion of a lot of sincere people—No. Faith for faith’s sake doesn’t go anywhere. Faith doesn’t have any magic. Faith in itself doesn’t save you, it can’t help you, it doesn’t give you anything you need to overcome trials. But faith is the thing that gets you to God.
In fact, faith is the way to everything with God.
Faith gets you to God.
It’s like this—years ago when my kids were younger, I stood on the front porch and called them home for supper. I saw my son a block away hop on his bike and head home. I was so happy to see him that when he got to the sidewalk and jumped off his bike, I’d run . . . right passed him to hug his bike.
Faith is only the thing that gets you home. It’s the vehicle, not the destination.
God is fired up by your faith because that’s what gets you to Him. People who have faith in Him, come to Him . People who don’t believe in Him, don’t come to Him. It’s the coming to Him and not the faith itself that pleases God.
